Northwest Yacht Support and staff have been a constant on the beautiful British Columbia coast for over 35 years working on many types of vessels ranging from super yachts to commercial vessels. Our local knowledge and expertise are coupled with our finely honed suppliers list to bring you the absolute best of the best that this magnificent coastal area has to offer. As an example our pilotage captains are all Transport Canada certified masters who must meet very strict local sea time regulations, please see below for more information. Our provisioner is an ex super yacht chef who speaks super yacht chef fluently and knows what to source and how to package specifically to yacht standards. Our owner is a commercially endorsed master and ex super yacht captain with over 35 years of personal hands on yacht experience on the British Columbia coast. EXPEDITION AND ITINERARY EXPERTISE.

Throughout our long history on the BC coast we have developed many professional and personal relationships with the areas service providers and done so in a respectful manner. The British Columbia coast is a magnificent area to explore but it must be done with a low impact, respectful approach. The local First Nations cultures and traditions are incredibly diverse and the areas in which these folks live are some of the most ecologically sensitive areas on earth. From the southern Gulf Islands to Desolation Sound and the Great Bear Rainforest we are your local expedition experts in British Columbia.

PROVISIONS

Our provisions are the finest available and sourced and packaged by an ex super yacht chef. Alex knows what your chef is talking about and can source pretty much anything they need and also offer local in season delicacies. We can deliver to you anywhere on the British Columbia coast and in your preferred packaging.

PILOTAGE

Pilotage in British Columbia waters is compulsory for all yachts over 500 GRT. There are only two options to adhere to the Pilotage Regulations and both are administered and monitored by the Pacific Pilotage Authority. You may use the Pacific Pilotage Authority/Coast Pilots or you may apply for a “Waiver of Compulsory Pilotage” and use an approved local captain/bridge officer who has been approved by the Pilotage Authority. Northwest Yacht Support is very well versed in the pilotage waiver application process and adhere to the very strict guidelines set by the pilotage authority. We use local captains and officers with diverse experience ranging from Canadian Coast Guard, super yacht captains and commercial vessel deck officers. All of these officers are vetted by the Pacific Pilotage Authority and must meet stringent certification and sea time standards. They are also great ambassadors for our coast and are proud to share their local knowledge.

CUSTOMS AND IMMIGRATION

Clearing into Canada through Canada Border Services Agency, CBSA, is a straight forward process when done properly. There are some nuances to be aware of with regards to importing alcohol and visa’s for certain nationalities who wish to join the vessel once it is in Canada. Again Northwest Yacht Support is well versed with the process and we can guide you through the system. The best advice we can give is be prepared and be honest, those two things will help make your entry procedures pleasurable.
